Sr Financial Analyst Distribution Finance & Planning

Job Location: Burbank, CA

The Walt Disney Studios seeks a Senior Financial Analyst to join the Distribution Finance team. This team is a highly visible department that plays an integral part in key business decisions across the Studio organization.

Its five business segments include Media Networks, Parks and Resorts, Studio Entertainment, Consumer Products, and Disney Interactive. The Studio Entertainment segment produces and acquires live-action and animated motion pictures, direct-to-video content, musical recordings and live stage plays.

Reporting to the Manager, this position will work with home entertainment business leaders, product management, sales, operations and accounting teams to develop, implement and review financial plans, strategies and new business initiatives.

• Creates financial models and P&Ls to forecast revenue, expenses, and profits for all distributed product
• Contributes to the preparation and analysis of the Annual Operating Plan, Five Year Plan, and quarterly forecasts including the accompanying senior management presentations
• Prepares what-if, breakeven, and trend analyses related to the following: the current business, alternative marketing / distribution scenarios, potential acquisitions, and new technologies
• Conducts research and analysis to report on trends in the entertainment industry
• Performs ad hoc planning to support customer sales and marketing plans
• Works on special projects and presentations as required
• Interfaces with varying levels of management; engages in significant contact with Studio Finance, other Disney segments and Studio Controllership
• Serves as an integral part of the business planning process on behalf of key titles
• Ensures the Finance Department is aligned with the objectives set forth by senior management and is operating as efficiently and effectively as possible through the consistent improvement of the frequency, accuracy, thoroughness and ease of use of all financial analysis

Basic Qualifications
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or other quantitative major
• Advanced analytical and problem solving skills and an ability to work independently in a fast-paced and rapidly changing environment
• Demonstrated ability to build and manage financial models for business forecasting, variance analysis
• Ability to take ownership of tasks and see them through to completion
• Advanced Excel skills
• Embraces teamwork; shares ideas / methods to improve performance
• Embraces working and operating in a highly collaborative and communicative environment
• Strong analytical and financial modeling skills; applying strategic thinking with a strong understanding of execution needs
• Strong interpersonal and developed presentation skills with ability to communicate and manage well at all levels of the organization (e.g. balancing understanding details with senior executive level communication)
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
• Intellectually curious and open to challenging status quo

Preferred Qualifications
• Professional Certifications: MBA and/or CPA
• Familiarity with financial reporting software (SAP, Cognos, Essbase)
